Our Story
Lighthouse Call was born from a personal experience and a simple, universal question: How do we care for the people we love without taking away the independence they cherish?
Our founder's father passed away suddenly at 70, leaving his mother alone in the family home for the first time in decades. She was a fiercely independent woman, adamant that she didn't need any help and bristled at the idea of being a "burden" to her children. And she was right—she was perfectly capable of managing her own life.
But for her son, a nagging feeling lingered. The persistent, quiet 'what-if' that every child with an independent parent knows all too well. What if she slipped and couldn't get to the phone? What if she had a sudden illness? How long would it be before someone knew?
The Power of a Simple Check-in
His mother was fortunate. She had a strong support system of local friends who made a point of stopping by or calling, weaving a natural, human safety net into the fabric of her daily life. But watching them, our founder had a stark realization: what about everyone else? What about the millions of independent seniors who don't have that built-in, daily touchpoint?
That question became our mission. We set out to build a service that could replicate the feeling of that "friend stopping by"—a simple, respectful, and reliable way to confirm that all is well, every single day.
A Service Built on Empathy
Lighthouse Call was designed from the ground up to solve the emotional conflict between a child's need for reassurance and a parent's need for autonomy. We are not a medical alert company. We don't sell panic buttons or wearable devices. Our philosophy is built on three core principles:
- Dignity First: Our service is invisible. It doesn't require a change in lifestyle or a public declaration of being "at risk."
- Reassurance for You: We provide a simple, binary answer to the one question that matters: is my loved one okay today? We stay silent unless a check-in is missed.
- Simplicity as a Rule: The service is effortless to use for the parent and simple to manage for the family. No complex tech, no confusing features.
We exist to provide peace of mind for you, and to honor the independence of the people you love. That's the story behind every call we make.
